Workshop to step into the shoes of Leonardo as an artist, scientist, and engineer, and to understand his approach to life. Based on some of Leonardo’s drawings and texts, participants will be engaged in a series of experiences linked to the many interests of the Vincian genius and activities that vary each time. Activities for families with children aged 5 to 14.

Leonardo and Mechanics

An interactive tour to discover the mechanical principles behind the machines designed by Leonardo. The visit includes practical experiments directly in the museum halls. Each of Leonardo’s machines serves as a gateway to discovering his extraordinary technical expertise and innovative graphic solutions. The tour continues in the educational room with a hands-on experimentation session to test the functioning of some simple machines studied by Leonardo. Activities for adults and teenagers aged 15 and up.

Like Water, Like Air

Workshop to explore Leonardo’s extraordinary observations on water and air. Through a practical and interactive approach, children and their families will discover the properties, strength, and movement of these natural elements. Participants will experiment with creating small movements, or revolutions as Leonardo called them, using different objects until they make a mini tornado. Activities for families with children aged 6 to 14.

Leonardo the Painter

Workshop to virtually immerse yourself in Leonardo’s masterpieces, exploring backgrounds and closely observing details of some of his paintings to fully understand the master’s teachings. The journey includes a special focus at the “Leonardo and Painting” section (exhibition venue in Via Roma 23), where high-resolution, full-scale copies of Leonardo’s paintings are displayed. Activities for adults and teenagers aged 15 and up.

The Dream of Flight

After observing some drawings from Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Codex on the Flight of Birds, participants will create miniature wings in various shapes: wide and powerful like those of a kite, long and slender like those of a seagull, or shaped and featherless like a bat’s. Attempting to take flight will be a small Vitruvian Man who, once his paper wings are attached, will be launched into the air, performing endless spins. The journey will include a special focus on the Flight section of the Museum, where the extraordinary machines Leonardo designed in his quest to achieve flight are preserved. Activities for families with children aged 5 to 7.

Leonardo’s Day

Leonardo’s Day is a traditional festival celebrating the birth of Leonardo da Vinci on April 15, 1452, in Vinci. The event features a rich program including historical parades in Renaissance costumes, theatrical and musical performances, artistic demonstrations, and workshops on Leonardo’s inventions and painting techniques. There will also be lectures, markets, guided tours, and many other engaging activities. Don’t miss the symbolic launch of a laurel wreath from an aerial vehicle onto Leonardo’s Birthplace.

Workshop to experiment with a new way of looking at reality, using the same attentive and curious gaze as Leonardo. This will highlight the cultural atmosphere in which the Vincian genius, a product of his time, acted, offering a perspective that interweaves his technological studies, to which the Museo Leonardiano is particularly dedicated, with his interests in nature, science, and art. Participants will analyze some of Leonardo’s drawings from a specific perspective: artistic, scientific, or technical. Activities for adults and teenagers aged 15 and up.

Cammino di Santo Sano

Historical reenactment of an ancient pilgrimage that took place on the first Sunday of May from Vinci to the parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Sant’Ansano di Greti. Previously organized by the Vinci nel Cuore Association, since 2024 it has been promoted by local parishes with the sponsorship of historical-cultural associations and the Diocese of Pistoia. The name Santo Sano, also used by Leonardo in his drawings, refers to Saint Ansanus, patron saint of Siena. The Vincian parish church preserves a 14th-century altarpiece by Puccio di Simone depicting the Saint.
Medium-difficulty trekking suitable for children over 10 years old accustomed to walking.
Equipment: trekking shoes, long pants, at least 1 liter of water.
