VISIT TO THE CHAPTER LIBRARY OF THE DIOCESE OF PESCIA
The Capitulary Library of Pescia draws its origins from the will of the canon treasurer Romualdo Cecchi, at the time of his death in 1648, he leaves all his books to the chapter of the provostship of Pescia, so that a library for public consultation can be founded.
The canon also leaves a sum for the purchase of books and the income for the canon librarian.
Recognized in July 1666 with a bull from Pope Alexander VII (Chigi), over the centuries it has reached a library unit consisting of 11,000 volumes. 42 incunabula, 580 sixteenth-century books, 150 manuscripts ranging from a fragment of a 12th-century laudarium to the letters of Monsignor Angelo Simonetti, bishop of Pescia from 1908 to 1950.
The monumental room is full of 17th century desks, with two 17th century globes in the centre.
The vault of the monumental hall is frescoed with ornamental paintings in perspective by the Lucchese painter Pietro Paolo Scorzini (1711).
Among the numerous collections that the library possesses, the collection of prints of the 500-600 of the canon Andrea Buonvicini and the fund of the senator avv. Leopoldo Galeotti.

HALL OF COAT OF ARMS OF THE PALAZZO DEL VICARIO
Visit to the Civic Museum of the City of Pescia, where the whole room on the noble floor was restored, through a precise restoration action under the supervision of the Florentine Superintendency, then proceeding with the relocation of the most significant works: all the Uffizi paintings present in the collections from the early twentieth century as well as paintings useful to recall the connection of the Pescia museum with its territory.
Visit to the Libero Andreotti Gipsoteca, which collects about 250 pieces including sketches, casts, plaster models and fragments of the famous sculptor. Together with the plaster casts there is also the sculptor’s personal archive located on the second floor which contains about 5600 documentary units, which represents a fundamental tool not only for the reconstruction of Andreotti’s work, but also for contributing to studies on artistic and cultural life , nationally and internationally, of the first three decades of the twentieth century.
Visit to the Hall of Coats of Arms of the Palazzo del Vicario, currently the seat of the municipal offices, where the Sala del Consiglio or Hall of Coats of Arms is located, located on the second floor, with beautiful frescoes from various eras that reproduce the coats of arms of the most important podestàs.
The large hall, which overlooks the square and dominates it from above, has two different series, some older and more fragmentary above a stone frame, under which runs a continuous band painted with other coats of arms of successive vicars the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries.

HISTORICAL ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF THE MINER AND THE QUARRYER
FRAZ. VELLANO
On the Pesciatina mountain, at 600 mt. above sea level, Vellano rises, this ancient town which is the “capital” of the “ten castles” of the Middle Ages.
The working of pietra serena has always been in the blood of the Vellanesi.
The quarries have always supplied the best quality material which, under the skilful work of the master stonemasons, has been transformed into small masterpieces of ornamentation or flooring, bridge abutments, window sills and cornices famous throughout the region and even outside the continent.
In times gone by there was even a school where stone craftsmen learned the rudiments of the trade. The work took place mainly in the summer and it was very easy to find two or three of these masters on the roadsides who, dusty and serious, undertook to obtain more or less important pieces according to the vein of the stone that their experience indicated as suitable .
In winter, when working in the quarry was impossible, many of them went to work as miners both in Italy and abroad, taking advantage of their skills and experience.
