District of Ponte Buggianese

The town rises on the plain and occupies the central part of the Valdinievole. The name of the city is due to the existence of a bridge over the river, to be precise a local river-canal that collected the waters of the Albinatico and Fattoria areas and into the Pescia stream. In Piazza Banditori you can admire the great monumental sculptures of Jorio Vivarelli, a Pistoiese famous throughout the world for his art and who left his mark of post-modern art in Ponte Buggianese.
