District of Pieve a Nievole

The town of Pieve a Nievole acts as a bridge connecting the centers of Montecatini Terme and Monsummano Terme. The hunting lodge of the Medici family built during the Renaissance is now the seat of the Town Hall. The city takes its name from the Church of San Pietro in Neure, founded by the bishop of Lucca probably before the Longobard invasion in 570. With the passing of the years the importance of the Pieve grew very much, just think that around the year 1000 they depended from it at least ten chapels.
